Christmas is a Christian festival that celebrates the birth of Jesus. It is typically observed as a religious and cultural holiday by all Christians around the world. According to the bible, Jesus was born on 25 December, which is why the day is celebrated.

The word "Christmas" is derived from Old English "Cristes maesse", which means "Christ's Mass".

Christmas History:

No one knows the real birthday of Jesus! No accurate date is provided in the bible,  but still why have people choose to celebrate it on 25th December .

The first time Christmas was being celebrated was on December 25th was in 336, during the times of the Roman Emperor Constantine. It was not an official Roman state festival at this time.

A early Christian tradition says thats the day when Mary had been told that she would be giving birth to a special baby, Jesus ( Annunciation) was on March 25th - and it's  celebrated today on the 25th March. Nine months after 25th March is the 25th December , that's the day when christmas is celebrated.

Advent is a period of four Sunday before Christmas (or sometimes it is referred as from the 1st December to Christmas Day!). Advent means 'Arrival' in Latin. This is the arrival of Jesus into the world. Christians utilize the four Sundays and weeks of Advent for preparation and to remember the real meaning of Christmas.

There are three meanings of 'arrival' that Christians describe of Advent. The first, was  about 2000 years ago when Jesus came into the world as a baby and lived like a man and died for us. and The second one happens nowm as Jesus wants to come into our lives at present. And the third will happen most likely in the future when Jesus comes back to the world as Emperor .
